Gateway District 2014 Fall Conference: Bloom @ Keystone
Sep 15 – Sep 18 all-day

This year the theme for our conference is BLOOM.

“The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like a desert flower, it will burst into bloom.” Isaiah 35:1-2

Our entire week together is designed around the idea that we are called by God to “bloom in the wilderness” – our congregations, our communities, and around the world. Our speakers will address each of these areas and follow up by joining us for our 2015 Regional Trainings.

Please bring your entire team to experience this excellent training as well as to participate in a prophetic prayer time that will set our direction for the future.

Coming Home: Henri Nouwen on the Reality of Our Journey @ Potters Inn
Oct 3 – Oct 6 all-day

Our journey is primarily about “coming home” to who we truly are in God. In this retreat, we will explore the late Henri Nouwen’s insightful reflections on the Prodical Son, highlighting the deep love God has for us as his children, even as we sometimes struggle to find our way back home into God’s embrace. Topics to include:

  • Understanding ourselves as the beloved of God
  • Recognizing the prodigal part of our souls
  • Redeeming our anger, resentment and pride
  • Becoming the Father who blesses
  • Exploring where we are in the parable and the painting

Aside from focused teaching on the theme, we will engage together in group Lectio Divina (Sacred Reading), as well as Visio Divina (Sacred Seeing) excersises based on the Luke 15 (Parable of the Prodigal Son) and Rembrandt’s “Prodical Son” painting. We will also participate in small group interaction, personal solitude, and liturgical prayers.

Our teaching and facilitator for the weekend is Wil Hernandez, Ph.D., Obl. OSB, who regularly conducts retreats year-round and teaches courses on the spirituality of Henri Nouwen across the country. The author of a trilogy on Nouwen published by Paulist Press. Wil is also an Oblate of Saint Andrew’s Abbey in Valyermo, CA. His website is: www.nouwenlegacy.com
